Earlier this month, in honour of Her Majesty’s 90th birthday, Hanne & Co’s Charity Committee brought the firm together for a majestic ‘Right Royal Knees Up!’ in aid of our charity of the year, Age UK Wandsworth. Our conference room was transformed into a festive banqueting hall with bunting and an abundance of cakes and sandwiches.
Treats included huge slabs of plum tray bake crafted by Susanne, Anna’s delicious Victoria Sponge, and Royeka’s ERII-themed cupcakes piled high. Keeley’s famous sausage rolls flew off the plate, while the enormous trays of coronation chicken, cucumber, and salmon sandwiches were picked clean.
Plates of goodies were enjoyed while basking in the sunshine looking out over the beautiful River Thames, the British weather having briefly shown an improvement.
Then came the main event: the DIY Crown Competition! Entries varied widely in style and effort. Some had been lovingly bejewelled, while others still strongly resembled the file dividers they had been before. The panel of judges comprised our newest members of staff, Keileigh, Mary and John. While they were impressed at the resourcefulness of the other entrants, the panel saw fit to crown Tim’s Tiny Tiara the winner. A coronation took place and Tim was awarded a grand sceptre to wear with his handmade coronet.
We speculate that Her Majesty would have been proud of her subjects at Hanne for digging deep and giving generously to such an important cause.
