An employee should receive equal pay for equal work. This requirement can apply to situations where an employee is carrying out “like work” and not necessarily the same job.
Working time regulations concern the amount of hours employees can work. Employees can only work more than a certain number of hours per week if they have given their written consent to do so. Certain limits apply where they are carrying out regular night work. Employees should also be allowed to take rest breaks and should be granted a prescribed number of days of paid annual leave.
