    What do employment contracts entitle me to?

    Under employment contracts, employees are entitled to receive written terms with information such as rate of pay, place of work, holiday entitlements etc., within two months of starting employment. A verbal contract of employment, where there is no written contract, may be equally valid.

    If there is already an existing employment relationship, usually both parties must agree to any amendment of the contract. However, employees may face difficulties, and sometimes dismissal, if they reject a change of terms proposed by their employer. This is a complex area which we can advise you on.
