Working Time Guidance & Regulations
An employee should receive equal pay for equal work. This requirement can apply to situations where an employee is carrying out “like work” and not necessarily the same job.
What are Working time Regulations?
Working time regulations concern the amount of hours employees can work. Employees can only work more than a certain number of hours per week if they have given their written consent to do so. Certain limits apply where they are carrying out regular night work. Employees should also be allowed to take rest breaks and should be granted a prescribed number of days of paid annual leave.
If you believe that you are being asked to work long hours, during the night or in hazardous conditions and are not being given adequate rest breaks or annual leave then please contact us to discuss your options.
Equal pay and wages – are you being paid correctly?
If you believe that you are being paid less than a colleague who is of the opposite sex, you should contact a member of our London employment law team who can advise you on this complex area of law.
Employees also have the right to be paid an amount which is equal to or more than the current National Minimum Wage. If you believe that you are being paid less than the minimum wage, we can assess your situation and may be able to assist you in recovering wages at the Employment Tribunal.
In addition, if you feel that your employers have unlawfully deducted some of your pay then please contact our Employment Law team to discuss your options.
