Getting married abroad

Before you jet off to that Caribbean or Bali beach to tie the knot check you have all the necessary paperwork completed.

If you are using a professional wedding planning service no doubt they will have given you all the appropriate information but always useful to check. The government have a very helpful service at the Foreign & Commonwealth Office see
https://www.gov.uk/marriage-abroad

This allows you to put in your destination, the nationalities of the couple and gives you some indication of the formalities that may be required, for example an affidavit of non-impediment to marriage. If you have been married before you will need to supply a copy of your Decree Absolute. All these documents will most probably have to be notarised.

This is where we can help you with our notary service. Please contact David Taylor at 0207228 0017 or dxt@hanne.co.uk to arrange an appointment.
