Lorna has become known during the past year as a result of her work on the heavily reported case of LB Richmond v B & W & B & CB (2010) EWHC 2903 (Fam), which involved a challenge to the reliability of alcohol hair strand testing procedures used in family law cases. Her client described her as “Outstanding, she helped me through every part of my case….. Always believing in me, even when it felt everyone else was against me.” Jane Drew, the barrister in the case, described Lorna as having “An excellent legal mind with a real ability to empathise with the client. She will always fight hard for her clients and not give up.”
Lorna’s nomination was supported by testimonials from other clients who have been impressed by her ability and by the dedication and commitment she shows to all her clients.
Lorna’s nomination follows the success of the Hanne & Co Criminal Law Department in 2009, when Criminal Law solicitor and consultant at Hanne & Co, Michael Burdett, won the Lifetime Achievement Award.
Hanne & Co, are proud to announce that Lorna Cservenka of Hanne & Co’s Child Care department is one of the three finalists in the Family Legal Aid Lawyer award category and believe that the nomination reflects her ability as one of the leading family law solicitors in London.
The awards are organised by the Legal Aid Lawyers Practitioners Group, and represent fellow legal practitioner’s recognition, not only of the recipients commitment to working hard for publicly funded clients and to going the extra mile to get results on their behalf, but also of having qualities additional to being excellent lawyers that mark the nominees as deserving of special recognition in receiving these awards.
The winners will be announced at a ceremony to be held in London on the 28th June. The judging panel includes Cherie Booth QC (who will present the awards); Doreen Lawrence of the Stephen Lawrence Trust; legal journalist Joshua Rozenberg, Mr Justice Andrew McFarlane QC from the Family Division; LAPG chair Roy Morgan; as well as other leading legal practitioners.
LAPG is an independent grass roots movement, representing approximately 450 firms and not for profit organisations at the heart of the provision of publicly funded legal services. The awards are non-profit making. You can find out more about the awards by clicking here
