Amaya completed a BA in Music at the University of Durham, subsequently attending the College of Law in York to undertake the GDL and LPC. She obtained a Distinction in the latter. She volunteered at her local Citizens Advice Bureau in Scarborough, whilst also working as a professional musician. She undertook a month’s work placement in a legal practice in Seville where she was able to learn about a foreign jurisdiction.
In 2012, Amaya joined Hanne & Co as a trainee solicitor. She qualified in 2014 into the Wills, Trusts and Probate department. Her cases includes drafting wills, non-contentious and contentious probate, trusts of land, Powers of Attorney and Court of Protection matters. Amaya has a personal interest in administration of estates, inheritance tax issues, Inheritance Act 1975 claims, and contesting wills in relation to validity, capacity, lack of knowledge and/or approval.
Amaya is bilingual in English and Spanish. Away from work, she enjoys playing the piano, violin and singing, going to the theatre and travelling to foreign countries.
