A graduate of Keele University in Law and Politics, Rokeya qualified as a solicitor in 1991 and has been on the Children Panel since 1995. She joined Hanne & Co in 2015.
Rokeya has specialised in representing children and families since 1993. She has a depth of experience acting for parents and children in care proceedings, adoption proceedings, secure accommodation and emergency protection applications, recovery and collection applications and applications under the inherent jurisdiction as well as advocating for families pre-proceedings.
Rokeya has expertise in proceedings involving radicalisation, sexual abuse and non-accidental injury, factitious and induced illness, children with disabilities, parents with physical, mental or cognitive disabilities and placement abroad. She is experienced in assessing children’s capacity within proceedings and separately representing competent children.
Rokeya has a particular interest in representing grandparents and extended family members and ensuring that their important roles in children’s lives are recognised.
Rokeya practiced in Bermuda as an attorney for 15 months and was called to the Bermuda Bar in 1992 with whom she maintains close links.
