What are we looking for?

Hanne & Co is a distinguished law firm known for delivering exceptional legal services across various practice areas. We are expanding our offerings by establishing a new Corporate Commercial department that will complement our thriving Dispute Resolution department. This new department will receive some referral work from our established client base but will also need to generate new work so the successful candidate will benefit from having an established client following.  

We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Corporate Commercial Solicitor to join our firm as a Partner and lead the establishment of our new department. This is a unique opportunity to shape and grow a department from the ground up, leveraging referral work from our Dispute Resolution and commercial property departments and building a robust client base.

Key Responsibilities

Department Setup and Development:

  • Develop and implement a strategic plan for setting up and expanding the Corporate Commercial department.
  • Establish operational procedures and best practices for the new department.
  • Build and lead a team of solicitors and support staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.

Legal Expertise:

  • Advise clients on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, corporate finance, commercial contracts, and other corporate matters.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate complex legal documents.
  • Stay updated on changes in relevant laws and regulations and ensure compliance in all client dealings.

Financial Management:

  • Set and achieve financial targets for the new Corporate Commercial department.
  • Oversee budgeting, billing, and collections within the department.
  • Monitor and manage the department’s financial performance, ensuring profitability and growth.

Client Management:

  • Handle referral work from the Dispute Resolution department, ensuring seamless client service and integration.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with existing clients, identifying opportunities for additional services.
  • Provide expert legal advice on a wide range of corporate and commercial matters

Business Development:

  • Develop and execute marketing strategies to attract new clients and build the firm’s brand in the corporate commercial sector.
  • Represent the firm at industry events, conferences, and networking functions.
  • Collaborate with other departments to provide comprehensive legal solutions to clients.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Qualified solicitor in England and Wales.
  • Minimum of 10 years PQE in corporate and commercial law.

Experience:

  • Proven track record in handling high-value corporate transactions and commercial matters.
  • Extensive experience in client relationship management and business development.
  • Prior experience in a leadership or partnership role, with a focus on setting up or growing a department, is highly desirable.
