This year’s annual Junior Lawyers Division Conference was held on Saturday 18th April at the Law Society. There was a mix of speeches, presentations and interactive sessions evolving around the theme ‘Business, Media and the Law’.
Our trainee solicitors attended the event and this is what they say of the 1-day conference:
“The conference was a great opportunity to find out more about the challenges facing the legal profession and what the JLD are doing to protect students, trainees and junior lawyers, in light of this. The sessions were useful in providing insight and advice into what steps trainees can take to best equip themselves for the future and I particularly valued hearing about other people’s experiences when transitioning from trainee to NQ stage. However, the most entertaining moment of the day probably came from the Apprentice candidates’ interview; Felipe in particular proving that he is just as amusing in real life, as he came across on the show.” – Susanne Seaton
“Although it was held within the legal context, the JLD conference provided interesting insights and useful reminders to the profession on skills and etiquettes applicable to all. I particularly enjoyed Caroline Goyder’s interactive session on using your voice and body language to communicate effectively, using a cat and dog analogy illustrating well the need to use your authority appropriately. I also appreciated Professor Dominic Regan’s comment ‘remember to say thank you’. We are grateful to our firm for giving us the opportunity to attend this event.” – Isadora
“The Junior Lawyers Division Annual Conference 2015 was a great success – Lauren Riley’s talk on her route into law and The Link App was particularly inspiring. Thank you to Chair Max Harris, the Executive Committee and guest speakers for their captivating insights into business, media and the law.” – Sehaj Lamba
This was an interesting and though provoking day for Hanne & Co’s junior lawyers.
